Poem: A Greasy Revelation

A Greasy Revelation

I stood there in disbelief
on this soggy Saturday morning,
noticing the unfortunate excretions
of a KFC gravy container
in the fridge,
wiping the sludge
from a package of bacon,
Oh! the delicious nitrates
i was planning to cook for breakfast.

I was next on my knees
in greasy genuflection
acknowledging my shame
in bringing home the
KFC delight
cursing and whining,
wiping the spillage
from other contents in the fridge.

I was cursing this gravy that
we didn’t even use on
our sinfully, delicious supper
the night before,
recalling my greasy-fingered children
humorously commenting
on the future state of our arteries.

To look at this in a positive light,
At least now my fridge is clean.
