Under the Crescent Moon

As I walked alone last night,
under the disc and crescent moon,
came visions from Egyptian lore,
and promise of great writing soon.

As I walked alone last night,
I entertained sweet thoughts of you,
and pondered childishly what if,
you were seeing this beauty too.

How I wanted to be with you,
a chance for waning wiles to hone,
foolishly, I was desiring more,
And still, I still must walk alone.

Maybe you are not "the one",
maybe he is coming soon,
maybe, maybe as I walk alone,
past the cold, uncaring moon.

What a cruel world, I think,
that to these sights, my heart is prone,
with no chance to share and love,
to leave a soul to walk alone.
