Arts Night and another cat appearance

Another week, another artsy event

Friday evening was the last FUCO Arts Night event until September.  I attended with one of my young people and a friend.  My friend and I wanted to show support for one of our writing group members.  My son wanted to listen to what the visual artist had to share.  We all were entertained by the jazzy music of a multi-talented journalist/musician and his friend.

When we arrived at the lovely First Unitarian Congregation grounds, we were met by a very friendly and beautiful Siamese cat.

My son seemed enchanted by its company.  It followed us through the large worship hall doors.  Embarrassed, I tracked its jingling path down under the row of benches to the front of the hall and herded it back outdoors. This was the second time I had encountered a friendly feline during an artsy outing.

The Arts Night organizers were friendly and welcoming.  The artists delivered interesting and inspiring presentations. Here are links to corresponding web sites or blogs that I located:

The organizers always provide time for the audience to view samples of the speakers’ work if on display, to enjoy snacks and stretch the body before the Q&A session.

After this session, I had time to catch up with old acquaintances and form some new ones, recalling the time I was one of the guest artists, when I talked mostly about writing as therapy.  That night was also a good opportunity for a quiet launch of the print version of my novel.

If you live in or near Ottawa and appreciate the arts, I highly recommend you visit one of the FUCO Arts Night events.  You will have to wait until September though.  In the meantime, have an enjoyable, inspirational summer!
