Re-Discovering SharePoint

For many years, I have enjoyed working with technology, office productivity tools and being a part of online collaboration efforts.

The jam to my bread and butter IT job is working with Microsoft SharePoint, supporting and providing training to demonstrate the excellent collaboration capabilities.   Most of the time it catches on…

Thanks to the support of my employer, I recently attended a Learning Tree course that provided hands-on instruction for SharePoint 2013.  I am itching to get going with it once the server is properly configured and our information architecture is defined.

This summer, I will take very little vacation time so that I can focus on my tasks and my role in a SharePoint 2013 upgrade project.  I look forward to working with others who take leadership in governance and with paid resources who will help us configure our environment as best as possible to well-defined requirements.

In addition to chasing technicians and luring in potential test users, I have been scouring the Internet for short, helpful videos that will appeal to the general user population.  I was very happy to see that Microsoft has come out with their Discover SharePoint site and Office Videos on YouTube.

Hop on over to the new Discover SharePoint site.  It’s very colourful and helpful.

Since I am not a summer person, I don’t mind being cooped up in an air-conditioned office or working remotely from an air-conditioned home office corner – as long as I can concentrate and be productive.   Summer time seems to be the best time to work on and roll out technology upgrade projects.

Once this project is completed and the appropriate SharePoint champions are supporting and wowing their respective business units, I can go on that much-needed vacation.

Thanks for dropping by – and not waking the kitteh.
